Hoop Editz basketball coverage by Mack Media

Where It All Started

Hoop Editz — Born on the Court

In the summer of 2017, a 13-year-old Kage McCorkle started filming his brothers' AAU basketball games for $8 per video. That was the birth of Hoop Editz — and the beginning of Mack Media Co.

Today, Hoop Editz is one of the most recognized basketball content brands in the Midwest. We've covered Nike EYBL, Prep Hoops Circuit, and hundreds of AAU and high school events. Our highlight films have helped athletes earn college scholarships, and our content has been featured on ESPN, SportsCenter, and Ball Is Life.

Hiring a Basketball Videographer

What a Basketball Videographer Should Do for You

Basketball is the hardest sport to fake on camera. Ten players, constant transitions and a play that turns in half a second. A basketball videographer who has spent years courtside knows where to stand for a drive to the rim, when to stay wide for a set play, and how to keep one player identifiable through a full game so a coach is never guessing.

That is the job we have been doing since 2017, from AAU gyms to Nike EYBL sessions and the Prep Hoops Circuit. Whether you need a recruiting highlight film, full game film for a college staff, or a tournament recap for your program, the footage is shot with the edit already in mind.

Choosing Your Film

Highlight Film, Game Coverage or Feature?

Most basketball families ask for “a highlight video,” but the right film depends on who is going to watch it. Here is what each one is for.

Recruiting Highlight Film

Your best plays from a season or a tournament run, cut so a college coach sees what you do well in the first 20–30 seconds. Usually 3–5 minutes, with a 60-second cut for social.

Best for: High school and AAU players building a recruiting profile and emailing college coaches.

Game & Tournament Coverage

Cinematic coverage of a single game, a weekend tournament, or an entire event, cut into a recap plus clips for the teams, players and organizers to post.

Best for: AAU programs, tournament organizers, and high school teams that want their event to look like it belongs on TV.

Player Feature & Documentary

Long-form storytelling that follows an athlete over time, on and off the court. This is where The Max Clark Project and our Mic’d Up series come from.

Best for: Elite prospects, NIL athletes, and brands that want an audience to know who the player is, not just how they play.

What a Recruiting Film Needs

  1. Lead with your best five clips. Many coaches decide in the first 20–30 seconds whether to keep watching.
  2. Make it obvious which player you are. A freeze-frame or spotlight before each clip saves a coach from guessing.
  3. Show the whole game, not just buckets. Defense, rebounding, passing and effort plays tell a coach how you will fit a roster.
  4. Open with a title card. Name, class, position, height, school, AAU program, GPA and contact info.
  5. Keep it short. Three to five minutes for the recruiting cut. Save the full game film for coaches who ask for it.

FAQ

Basketball Videography FAQ

What is a basketball highlight film?

A highlight film is a professionally edited video showcasing an athlete's best plays, designed to catch the attention of college recruiters. Coaches watch 20-30 seconds before deciding to continue — our films are built to hook them immediately.

How long should a basketball highlight video be?

For college recruiting, 3-5 minutes is the sweet spot. Coaches are busy — they want to see your best plays quickly. We also provide 60-second social cuts optimized for Instagram and TikTok.

What is Hoop Editz?

Hoop Editz is Mack Media's basketball content brand, launched in 2017. It's where we started — filming AAU games and creating highlight films for aspiring college athletes. Today it's grown into one of the most recognized basketball content brands in the Midwest.

What should a basketball recruiting video include?

Your best five clips first, a clear way to identify you before each play, and a mix of scoring, defense, rebounding and passing so a coach can see how you fit a roster. Open with a title card (name, class, position, height, school, AAU program, GPA and contact info) and keep the recruiting cut to three to five minutes.

Do you film AAU and grassroots tournaments?

Yes. Grassroots basketball is where Mack Media started: Hoop Editz began at AAU games in 2017. We cover circuits including Nike EYBL and the Prep Hoops Circuit, and we film single games, full tournaments and event coverage for organizers.

Can I see examples of your basketball films?

Yes. This page includes our films of Cooper Flagg at Nike EYBL Memphis, Braylon Mullins' 40-point senior debut and the Boozer twins at the Chipotle Nationals, and there are more on the Mack Media YouTube channel.

Do you film high school basketball games?

Yes. We film high school games, AAU tournaments and college matchups, and cut them into game recaps, recruiting highlight films and social clips. A single game can become a highlight film, or we can cover a full season or tournament run.

What does a basketball videographer deliver?

Depending on the project: a three-to-five minute recruiting highlight film, a 60-second cut for Instagram and TikTok, a cinematic game or tournament recap, or a longer player feature. Deliverables and the delivery date are agreed before we film.

Where is Mack Media located?

We're based in Indianapolis, Indiana. We travel nationwide for sports events, brand campaigns, and weddings — no travel restrictions.
