How Much Does a Wedding Videographer Cost?

What drives wedding videography cost up or down, how to compare packages properly, and the five questions worth asking any videographer before you book.

How Much Does a Wedding Videographer Cost?

Wedding videography quotes vary wildly, and it is rarely obvious why. This guide explains what actually sits behind the number — anywhere you shop — so you can compare packages like someone who knows the industry, and spot the difference between a fair quote and a cheap one that will cost you later.

What drives wedding videography pricing

1. Hours of coverage. “Full-day” (getting ready through the last dance) versus a 6–8 hour block is the biggest single variable. Beware packages that look cheap but end before your reception does — overtime rates are where budgets die.

2. Crew size. One videographer can capture a beautiful film; two capture both your faces during the vows. Photo + video teams (like our all-inclusive package) also remove the classic wedding-day problem of two separate vendors negotiating for the same shot.

3. Deliverables. The industry standard tiers:

  • Highlight film (3–10 minutes, cinematic, music-driven) — the piece you’ll rewatch and share
  • Feature/documentary edit (20+ minutes with full audio of vows and toasts)
  • Social reels — short vertical cuts delivered fast for sharing
  • Raw footage — some studios charge heavily for this; ask upfront

4. Extras that add real production value. Drone coverage of the venue, engagement sessions, second locations.

5. Experience and demand. Peak-season Saturdays with a proven team cost more than off-season Fridays with someone building a portfolio. Reviews with names and dates are how you tell the difference — ours are on The Knot, where we won Best of Weddings.

The three tiers you will run into

Quotes cluster into three groups, and the differences are about capability rather than a number:

  • Entry — usually a solo shooter early in their career with limited deliverables. The real risk isn’t talent, it’s reliability and backup gear.
  • Established professional — full-day coverage, a cinematic highlight film, defined deliverables and a track record you can check. Most couples land here.
  • Luxury — multi-shooter cinema teams, feature-length edits, and production scale to match.

A note on “cheap”: your wedding happens once. Photographers get second chances at portraits; nobody gets a second first dance. This is the single vendor category where a failed hire is unfixable — weight reliability accordingly.

Why couples pick Mack Media

Our wedding team shoots with the same documentary instincts we bring to sports — where nothing gets a second take either. That means natural, unscripted coverage: the laugh during the vows, the grandparents on the dance floor, the moments you didn’t know were happening. We’re The Knot Best of Weddings winners with a 5.0 rating on every platform, we cover Indianapolis and all of central Indiana, and we travel for destination weddings — no location off limits.

What we offer:

  • Exclusive Photography — full-day coverage, candid and posed, family portraits, edited digital gallery
  • All-Inclusive Photo + Video — full-day photographer and videographer, cinematic film, social reels, drone footage

Every wedding is quoted individually. Tell us your date and venue and we will put it in writing within 24 hours.

Questions to ask any videographer before booking

  1. Exactly how many hours are included, and what’s the overtime rate?
  2. What’s delivered, at what length, and when?
  3. Who actually shows up? (Studios sometimes subcontract.)
  4. What happens if you’re sick or a camera fails?
  5. Can we see a full film, not just highlights?

Ask us all five — we like couples who do their homework. Check your date’s availability and we’ll reply within 24 hours with a written quote.
